Tuan Le defends WSOP title win
The World Series of Poker continues at the Rio in Las Vegas Nevada, with amateurs and pros hitting the felt to hopefully earn the next WSOP gold bracelet. Tuan Le is no stranger to WSOP gold as he won the $10,000 triple draw deuce-to-seven lowball championship event last year, besting 110 players to win his very first WSOP title. This year, the pro was back yet again to take part in the $10,000 buy-in event and was able to claim the exact same title, defending his reign as the event champion.
This year’s $10,000 triple draw lowball championship consisted of a tough field of competitors with tons of cash on the line. When final table play began, Le found himself to be the chip leader and would never look back. Facing stiff competition with players such as Phil Galfond, Rep Porter and James Obst, Le would have to extend his chip lead to earn the title win for the second year in a row.
Once the final showdown began, Le would take on Max Casal, ending up with a chip lead of over 19 to 1. On the final hand, Le would raise from the button with 80,000 and Casal would respond with a three bet to 120,000. Le responded with a four-bet which pushed Casal all-in.
Casal drew one and Le drew three. On the second draw, Casal drew one and Le choose two. The final draw saw Casal taking one and Le stood firm. Casal flopped a 9-7-53 with Le showing J-8-6-5-2. Casal earned a pair for his 3, which gave Le the hand and the win.
